Edible masterpieces from FamilyFun

Those who hope to continue the work of acclaimed park designer Frederick Law Olmsted need to practice their craft--and eat their vegetables. By designing these fields of dreams, the Kitchen Table landscaper can do both.

Vegetable LandscapesMATERIALS
Peppers
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Carrots
Radishes
Herbs

TOOLS
Paring knife
Cutting board
Place mat

Slice vegetables into the various components of a pastoral landscape: an orange bell-pepper sun, fields of herbs, cauliflower clouds, broccoli trees (slice one side flat for positioning on the work surface). Design a landscape or garden, using a cutting board or place mat for a background.

TIPS: Starving artists might want to arrange their landscapes on a large lettuce leaf, topping it with salad dressing for a healthy snack.

REVIEWERS' COMMENTS: "The cauliflower really looks like clouds." "I love the taste of bell peppers--yummy!"
