Photos are so much more than images. They help me remember a child's laugh or the smell of my favorite cookies.

Judith is a mom, kids' soccer coach, Creative Memories scrapbooking consultant, parenting-class devotee, all-around sports fanatic

How did you become a scrapbooking consultant?

For years, I looked for a good way to preserve and display my photos. I went to a scrapbooking class and thought, This is it! So I signed on with the company and learned techniques through online workshops and DVDs.

Your best scrapbooking tip?

Pick a few meaningful events and create small albums that are easier to finish.

What's something few people know about you?

I played on the men's soccer team in college.

What's the most rewarding thing about coaching kids' soccer?

Watching them master new skills. Their faces just light up.

What motivates you to take parenting classes?

I wanted to put in the time to figure out my first baby, and then I just kept going. I've now taken 12 classes at our community college. I learn a ton from the other moms.

How do you stay close to faraway family and friends?

For 13 years, I've written a quarterly newsletter called the "Northwest Update." I consider myself the original blogger! (Check out Judith's tips on starting your own newsletter.)

Your favorite way to celebrate Mother's Day?

We usually go out for brunch. I love it when other diners say things like, "Your kids are so great." That's the best gift of all.
