Faux Fur Compact
- Total Time Needed:
- 1-2 Hours
This cute, funky, faux-fur covered tin features a handy mirror plus extra space for lip balm, scrunchies, and other little essentials that tend to get lost in the bottom of a girl's backpack or purse.
- Materials
-
- Rectangular candy or mint tin, about 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches
- Acrylic paints
- Small paintbrush
- Small oval mirror, available at craft stores (we found that 2- by 3-inch oval mirrors made by Darice Inc. fit perfectly into the rectangular tins)
- Clear tape
- Pencil
- Marker
- Double-sided tape
- Fake fur
- Scissors
- Tacky glue
- Instructions
-
-
Clean the inside of the tin. Paint the inside of the cover (and outside sections too, if desired). Let it dry. -
Using the clear tape, lightly attach the mirror inside the lid and make sure it's positioned so that you can still close the lid. Adjust as needed. Trace around the mirror with a pencil so you'll know where to reattach it.
-
Peel off the clear tape. Cover the back of the mirror with the double-sided tape and press it into the lid, following the tracing.
-
With a marker, trace the lid onto the fur's underside, then cut out the fur rectangle.
-
With a paintbrush, spread tacky glue on the lid top, then press the fur rectangle onto the lid. Let it dry.
