Bedazzling Beaded Jewelry

Turn beads and wire into fashionable rings and bracelets

If your child wants to add some pizzazz to her wardrobe, these fabulous rings and bracelets should do the trick. They make great gifts for friends too.

Materials
  • Scissors
  • 18- and 24-gauge craft wire
  • Beads (we used seed beads, bugle beads, and rocaille beads, all available at craft stores)

Instructions
  1. Bedazzling Beaded Jewelry: Rings and Bracelets For each ring, cut a 6- to 8-inch length of the 24-gauge wire. Use the pliers to bend over 1/4 inch of the wire at one end, then string on the beads.

  2. When the beads are about 1/2 to 1/4 inch from the end of the wire, bend over the end of the wire, leaving some room for the beads to move. Then wind the beaded wire around a pen, marker, or other round item to shape the new ring.

  3. For a bracelet, use a piece of the 18-gauge wire (ours was 17 inches long) and rocaille beads. Then wrap the string of beads around an appropriately sized round object, such as a cardboard tube or a rolling pin.
