Put a lid on desktop clutter with this handy holder for school supplies.

Materials
  • Empty coffee can or oatmeal carton
  • Construction paper
  • Colored pencils
  • Markers
  • Old magazines

Instructions
  1. First, wrap a piece of construction paper (trimmed to fit) around the container and tape or glue together the overlapping edges.

  2. Decorate the canister with personalized designs or magazine cutouts.

  3. Next, use a craft knife (adults only) to cut a series of X-shaped openings in the plastic lid for inserting pencils, paintbrushes, scissors and a ruler.

  4. Finally, glue a magnet to the side of the can for holding a few paper clips (remember, keep the magnet away from your computer).
