If your jewelry box looks like mine, you'll find beads, charms and silly old things your child can string together to make a key chain for some lucky person (maybe even you). You can buy a key ring at most convenience stores; chances are, you have one lying around the house. Use unwaxed dental floss to string the beads. Or your child can attach a favorite trinket or figure with string or leather cord.
