FIESTA CINCO DE MAYO
SAN DIEGO, CA:You can listen to the mariachis, watch the señoritas whirl and inhale the delectable aroma of sizzling tacos al carbon at the Fiesta Cinco De Mayo in San Diego, held in early May in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. There's a Mexican hat dance contest, performances by the children of the Hispanic Mexican Ballet, Aztec dancers, marimba concerts and Tony Munoz with the Amigos Dance Company. Kids can ride in a vintage Wells Fargo stagecoach; and once each day the Battle of Puebla, in which Mexican soldiers drove out the occupying French army, is reenacted on the neighboring "battlefield." For more information, call the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park at 619-220-5422.
