3 Things to Do with Mint Tins

1. Make a Mom's Day

This clever garland card is an unexpected way to wish a mother the best on her big day or send fun greetings on any occasion.

Start with any mint or candy tin; we used a circular one 3 inches in diameter. Trace the bottom on card stock, making a shape for each letter of your message. Cut out the shapes, use a marker to write a letter on each, and make two holes with a hole-punch near the top edge.

Lay out the letters in order, then thread them onto a ribbon, leaving spaces between the words. Trim the ribbon, leaving an extra 12 inches on either end, and tie knotted loops for hanging. Stack the garland into the tin, beginning with the last letter of your message. Leave one ribbon end sticking out and put on the lid.

Make a tag, punch a hole in one end, and slip it onto the ribbon. If you like, stick pretty paper onto the lid with glue (we used Crafter's Pick The Ultimate, which works well with metal).
