Celebrating the Fourth from FamilyFun
On the Fourth of July, young patriots can show their spirit by dressing up not only themselves, but also their two-wheelers, in stars and stripes.
Help your children weave colorful crepe paper through the wheel spokes. Tape lengths of ribbon to the handgrips and string the ends with beads or mini bells. Simple, homemade flags can be made out of construction paper. To eliminate drawing 50 stars on each side, apply silver star stickers. Trail glue along the left edge of the finished flag, roll about 1 1/2 inches of the paper around a thin dowel or branch, and hoist it up. As a treat, provide a helium balloon for each child to fly from his handlebars, an exciting touch that also is a safety device easily spotted by drivers.
