- Instructions

-
For each character's feet, first cut out a heart or butterfly shape from the cardboard. (An easy method is to trace around an oval-shaped kitchen sponge to create overlapping shapes.)
-
Use colored magic markers to draw on shoes -- they can even make holes for real shoelaces -- or animal paws. When done, cut a 1/2-inch slit between the heels.
-
Blow up a balloon for each pair of feet and knot the end. Using markers, carefully draw a face and body directly on the balloon. Slip the knotted end of the balloon into the slit between the feet.
-
Kids can crown their creations with yarn wigs, felt ears or paper hats, if desired.
