Bug-Eyed Blowfish

- Materials

- 12-inch balloon
- Plaster cloth (we used 2 packages of Activa Rigid Wrap; see Plaster Cloth Basics) cut into 6-inch strips
- Scissors
- Shallow pan of warm water
- Bowl
- Aluminum foil
- Masking tape
- Acrylic paints and brushes
- Craft foam and stapler or foam tape (for variations)

Fish lips: Shape a wet plaster strip into a mouth (as in step 3 of Plaster Pals), then stick it to the balloon and cover it with another wet strip to secure it.

Eyes and tail: Form eyes and a tail from aluminum foil (as in step 5 of Plaster Pals). Tape them onto the plastered balloon base, then cover them completely with wet plaster strips. -
Fins: For each fin, cut 2 plaster strips into matching 4-inch-long fin shapes. Wet them, stick them together, and smooth the surface to release excess water. Attach one end of the strip to the body, letting the other end furl as shown. Allow the project to dry completely before painting (for our shiny base paint, lips, tail, and fins, we used purple and teal metallic acrylics).

Fish stand: Cut craft foam into a 2- by 17-inch strip and secure it into a ring with staples or double-sided foam tape.
