Materials
  • 3 yards of faux-fur fabric (we used 2 contrasting fleece fabrics: 2 yards for the tunic, 1 yard for the belt and ties)

  • 3 yards of leather shoelace

Instructions
  1. Cave Kid - Step 1 TUNIC: Fold the 2-yard length of fabric in half, then cut the neck hole and a jagged hem (diagram 1). From the contrasting fur, cut the belt, shoulder ties, and side ties as shown. Have your child try on the tunic. Knot a tie around each shoulder. Cut small holes for the side ties, thread them through, and tie them. Tie on the belt.

  2. Cave Kid - Step 2 TEETH AND BONE ACCESSORIES: To make teeth and bones, loosely crumple foil into the desired shapes, then cover the shapes with masking tape. Tape shoelace loops to the teeth for hanging them from the belt and from a shoelace necklace (diagram 2). If desired, use another length of shoelace to tie a bone to a topknot ponytail.

  3. CLUB: Cover the bat with a layer of bubble packaging, and then with a layer of brown craft tape.
