Here's a totally tubular craft to mark the last week of summer and a fun way to present kids with their new school supplies.

Materials

• 7 cardboard tubes
• Knife or scissors
• White glue
• Cardboard

• Number labels
• Small school supplies
• Paper and string or ribbon for wrapping

Instructions

1. To make our countdown calendar, cut the cardboard tubes in descending half-inch increments, starting at 5 1/2 inches long.

2. Run a line of white glue around one end of each tube and stick them to a cardboard base. Print and cut out number labels and glue one to each tube.

3. Wrap small school supplies and put them into the tubes. Invite your child to open one package each day. You may want to make the last day's surprise extra special by tucking in a sweet treat or a gift coupon.
