Colored tape is so versatile, it can even help recycling bins and wastebaskets look sharp. Here's how to create our underwater scene.

  • Blue and green electrical tape
  • Waxed or parchment paper
  • Permanent marker

Instructions
  1. Waves Place a strip of blue electrical tape around the top and bottom of a trash can. Stick more strips of the tape onto waxed or parchment paper, then cut the tape in half lengthwise in curvy waves. Peel the tape from the paper and apply it above and below the first strips.

  2. Sea Life For the seaweed, place strips of green electrical tape onto waxed or parchment paper and cut out squiggly shapes. Stick the shapes on the can, placing some together to create branches. For fish, stick colored electrical tape onto waxed or parchment paper and cut out oval bodies, triangle fins and tails, and circle eyes. Assemble the fish on the can, then use a permanent marker to add black dots for pupils.
