Portly Penguin

Total Time Needed:
Afternoon Or Evening

This flightless fellow will be your coolest summertime friend. Check out Plaster Pals for basics on building this and other critters.

Materials
  • 12-inch balloon
  • Plaster cloth (we used 2 packages of Activa Rigid Wrap; see Plaster Cloth Basics) cut into 6-inch strips
  • Scissors
  • Shallow pan of warm water
  • Bowl
  • Aluminum foil
  • Masking tape
  • Acrylic paints and brushes
  • Craft foam and stapler or foam tape (for variations)

Instructions
  1. Penguin beak: Follow the Plaster Pals steps to make this bird, but instead of adding a plaster beak, simply paint one on after the plaster is completely dry.

  2. Wings: Instead of curling the tips of the wings (as in step 4 of Plaster Pals), curl the penguin's wings in the middle, close to the body.
