Build a boat bed by bolting sheets of medium density fiberboard to a metal-frame bed and top it with narrow strips of wood.
-
Prefabricated drawers (wheels can be added) inserted along the bottom provide extra storage, while an outboard motor adds a touch of realism.
-
Make the pier from wooden posts sawed into different lengths, glued together, and wrapped with rope. Run a line from one post to a cleat on the corner of the bed. Hang a creel from the side of the bed to give a place for a reading lamp and fishing magazines. -
Use strips of camouflage tulle to create curtains and tack on to the window frame to add to the outdoorsy look.
-
Make a bobber light by spray-painting half of an old glass globe light and suspending it from a fishing pole strung with doubled fishing line and attached to the pier.
-
On the wall behind the bed, string netting from a craft store, hold in place with tiny nails, to create a fishnet effect. -
Decorate a lampshade by hot-gluing on metallic letters and tattoo-style fishing stickers from a craft store. -
The painted chair reads: "Give a boy a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a boy to fish, he'll play for a lifetime." -
Use a hanging cloth chair, along with exercise rings and a punching bag and install them by drilling through the ceiling to the joists above. -
Sew cloth covers for a twin mattress and two small nap mats, which provide padding on the floor underneath and the walls behind.
