Pumpkin Hat
- Total Time Needed:
- 30 Minutes or less
To give the judges (we usually have at least three) the ceremonial seriousness their position requires, make our Pumpkin Judge's Hat. If other partygoers want their own -- and they probably will! -- they're a snap to make.
- Materials
-
- MATERIAL (FOR 1 HAT)
- 3 sheets of 20- by 30-inch orange tissue paper
- Tape (brown or green)
- Green poster board, cut to 26 by 3 inches
- 2 paper clips
- Markers
- Bubble packaging (optional)
- Instructions
-
-
Fold 1 sheet of orange tissue paper in half to make a 20- by 15-inch rectangle. Gather and bunch 1 long edge of the folded sheet using pleats and tape it to the poster board strip so it covers about 10 inches (see diagrams). -
Repeat with 2 additional sheets, overlapping the edges by a couple inches.
-
Wrap the band around the judge's head with the tape side in and paper-clip the ends to secure. Gather the tissue paper along the top edge and tape it together tightly, wrapping it with brown or green tape to resemble a stem. Cut off the excess paper above the stem. -
Write "Judge" on the band with markers. Stuff with bubble packaging for shape, if desired.
