DIRECTIONS
1. For the planks, cut lengthwise strips from the sheet of balsa that measure 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide.
2. Cut the resulting strips into 4 1/2-inch-long sections. Also, make two 3 1/2-inch-long planks.
3. For the horizontal supports, use a small saw to divide the 1/4- by 3/8-inch balsa molding into two 18-inch pieces. Lay them side by side, 3 inches apart.
4. Glue planks across the supports, leaving 1/16 inch of space between them.
5. After attaching four planks, glue one 3 1/2-inch plank across the horizontal supports (this is where the first set of uprights go).
6. Continue gluing on more 4 1/2-inch planks. When you are 3 inches from the end, affix the second 3 1/2-inch plank. Cover the rest with 4 1/2-inch planks.
