Backyard Wooden Boat

Step-by-step guide from FamilyFun

The Dock Landing

The dock can be positioned at the edge of your backyard stream or pond by wedging the posts into the sand. Once completed, your child's imagination will sail away.step 1

DIRECTIONS

1. Cut two pairs of uprights from the half-round balsa molding. They should stick up 3/4 inch above the dock; their overall height depends on the depth of the water where they'll be planted.

step 2 2. Glue the flat sides of the uprights to the horizontal supports, on either side of the 3 1/2-inch planks.

3. Wind kite string around upright joints.

TIP: Tie the boat to the dock with an extra piece of kite string to prevent it from sailing away.
