Handprint Border

Total Time Needed:
1-2 Hours

When Michelle O. of Sun Valley, Nevada, was searching for a way to personalize her sons' room, she asked the boys, Andrew and Quin, for a hand ... literally. Even though they created the decoration a couple of years ago, the boys still know which handprints are theirs. "We occasionally measure to see how much bigger their hands are today," Michelle says.

Materials
  • Latex paint
  • Masking tape
  • Drop cloth, rags and a bucket of water

Instructions
  1. Decide where you want your border and, measuring up from the floor, mark off the top and bottom of the border area with masking tape.

  2. Using latex paint in primary colors, apply the paint with a foam brush to your child's hand, then help him push his hand onto the wall between the lines of tape. You may want to practice on paper first. Wash each hand between colors.

  3. To avoid smudging, let the border dry overnight before removing the tape.
