Here's a fun way to give your house a little personality: Turn some of the flowers into smiling sentries.

Using blunt tweezers, gently pull out seeds to form eyes, a nose, and a grin. You can pull the seeds at any point, but they are a little looser once they start to darken.

When your kids are plucking, remind them to hold the flower head where the stem meets the flower so they don't damage the delicate petals.

As the sunflowers grow, periodically weed and rake the floor of the house to keep it clear.
