Cook Up Some Musical Sounds

As intriguing to look at as it is to listen to, this wind chime is a breeze to make. You'll need a metal colander and 6 or so old kitchen utensils -- the perfect excuse for a family outing to a tag sale or thrift store.
- Materials

- Length of monofilament
- Spatula
- Slotted spoons
- Whisk
- Vegetable peeler
- Drink strainer
- Apple slicer
- Instructions

To assemble the chime, thread a 30-inch length of monofilament through each item so that you have a double line (as you would if you were threading a needle). -
Knot the line above the item several times and then slide on a few beads. (The knot should be big enough to keep the bead from sliding down to rest directly on the utensil, where it can alter the sound of the chime.)

Insert the doubled line up through a hole in the colander and slide on another bead. Again, tie the line above the bead to create a knot that's too big to pull back through.

Once all the items are attached, simply tie the ends of another piece of monofilament to the handles of the colander, and your wind chime is ready to hang.
