Collect sand and shells for a magical craft that memorializes a trip to the beach.

Materials
  • corrugated cardboard
  • scissors
  • tacky glue
  • sand and shells
  • thin dowel
X

Instructions
  1. Cut a starfish shape from corrugated cardboard (download our free template).

  2. Coat the star with an even layer of tacky glue, then sprinkle it with a layer of sand. Adhere shells with more glue and let it dry.

  3. Dab glue onto the end of a thin dowel (ours is about 1/8 inch wide) and insert it into a channel in the cardboard.

Tips:
Instead of bringing sand back home, you can make a mermaid wand right at the beach. Just bring the starfish shape to the shore, along with a bottle of glue and a dowel.
