Instructions
  1. Remove the doors and set them on sawhorses. To prepare them for painting, lightly sand them. Then paint each section the color you wish (we used latex semigloss interior paint). Let them dry for at least 48 hours.

  2. step2 Create a template out of card stock for drawing vents at the top of each of the raised center panels. A black paint pen works well for outlining and filling in the shapes. Next, draw horizontal lines between the raised panels to divide each door section into lockers.

  3. step3 For name tags, use tacky glue to attach a metal label holder (sold in craft stores in the scrapbooking section). Use the type with paper fastener-style brads so the holders will lie flat against the door. Once the glue dries, your child can insert card stock rectangles (cut to fit) displaying his name and those of his favorite athletes.

  4. step4 For a realistic final touch, glue a wire rope clamp (sold in hardware stores) on each locker. First, glue the base of the clamp to the door, then fill the holes with more glue and insert the threaded ends of the U-bolt into the holes so they touch the door (you won't need the nuts that come with the clamp).

  5. step5 When the glue is dry, rehang the doors and attach padlocks to the clamps.
