"I wanted to decorate my girls' rooms but didn't trust myself enough to paint directly onto the wall," says reader Deb Kadish. So the Issaquah, Washington, mom came up with a clever way to create her own removable wall art using Con-Tact paper and paints. The stickers are cheaper than wallpaper, supersimple to apply, and brighten a humdrum room in a snap. Best of all, when you're ready for a change, they can be peeled off and rearranged. Deb designed daisies and butterflies for Elana, age six, and Gabrielle, three. But any shape is possible, so let your imagination run wild!

Instructions
  1. Cut several squares of clear repositionable Con-Tact paper and flatten them overnight.

  2. Using a sponge brush, paint the entire top surface of each piece with undiluted acrylic craft paints, or daub with a sponge for a textured look. Let dry.

  3. Draw butterflies onto the backs of the painted squares, or download our templates and use them for tracing.

  4. Whimsical Wall Stickers - Step 4 Cut out the butterflies, then, if you like, cut different-colored bodies from the scraps and add them. Apply the butterflies wherever you need a splash of color. Catch the butterfly design featured here.
