Summer Cooler

When the temperature rises this summer, your child can keep his cool with an ice pack in his favorite shade -- of color, that is.

- quart-size, freezer-safe ziplock bag
- corn syrup
- food coloring

Fill a quart-size freezer-safe ziplock bag with corn syrup and mix in food coloring until the desired shade is reached. Carefully squeeze out any air, then close the bag and seal it inside a second ziplock bag.

Store your homemade ice pack in the freezer. There it will remain pliable, ready to ward off the summer heat, add a cool twist to a game of hot potato -- or soothe a skinned knee.
