Instant Engine

Total Time Needed:
1 Hour

Ask any motorcyclist: when it comes to bikes, the louder the better! Each plastic plate yields two of these noisy "clackers," an easy way to rev up your bike. It also makes a fun craft for your guests at the Ultimate Bike Birthday Party.

Materials
  • 9-inch plastic plates
  • Hole punch
  • Plastic cable ties
  • Scissors
X

Instructions
  1. Step 1 - Instant Engine BEFORE THE PARTY Cut the rim off one 9-inch plastic plate for every 2 guests. Mark 2 rectangles side by side inside the flat circle, as shown. Cut out the rectangles and, using a hole punch, make a hole halfway down each long side.

  2. AT THE PARTY Insert a plastic cable tie into each hole in the rectangle, then secure it around one of the bars that extend alongside the bike's back wheel. Be sure the "engine" makes contact only with the spokes, not with the chain or brakes. Tighten the ties and trim off the ends.
