Make a Scrapbook

Forget-me-nots from FamilyFun

by Alexandra Kennedy
In putting together our scrapbook, Jack and I learned a few techniques the hard way--and found a few solutions, too. Before you start, here's our two cents.

• Glue from the bottle bleeds through thin paper, making marker writing run. I chose glue sticks, even if it means I may have to do patchwork over the years as pages start to slip.

• If you want to paste any thin white paper (notes, drawings and so on) into your scrapbook, mount it first on thick white paper. Correction fluid is a poor choice if you want to write over it in marker (it looks smudgy). In the end, I preferred to live with our mistakes, paste paper over them or start a new page.

sew cards together • If you want to include greeting cards but don't want to use up five pages, try this simple trick: Set each card inside the next until you have a stack of five or six. At the seam, stitch with thread, holding them together as a bundle, then glue the back of the outside card to the scrapbook.
