Mini Pinwheel Charm

Total Time Needed:: 2-3 Hours

Put a fanciful spin on your summer style with a paper pinwheel that can be donned as a twirling ring, a ponytail charm, a pin, or even a shoelace decoration.

Materials

2-inch square of colorful scrapbooking paper
Scissors
Pushpin
24-gauge wire

Pipe cleaner
2 seed beads (we used size 6/0 E)
Needle-nose pliers

Instructions

Cut 1-inch slits at each corner of the paper square. Use a pushpin to poke 5 holes in the square, as shown.
Wrap the middle of a 4-inch piece of wire around the center of a 4-inch section of pipe cleaner and twist the doubled wire to secure it in place. Push the ends of the wire through a seed bead, then through the hole in the center of the paper.
Working counterclockwise, thread the wire through the holes in the paper points, being careful not to crease the paper.
Slide another seed bead onto the wire. Trim the wire 1/2 inch above the bead and use pliers to twist it into a small circle to hold the bead in place.
Wrap the pipe cleaner around your child's finger and twist the ends together to secure it. Wrap the excess pipe cleaner length around the ring, or trim the ends.
Instead of wearing it, wrap the pinwheel around the top of a pencil.
