The good news about summer vacation is that there are approximately 75 days for you and your kids to fill to the brim. The bad news is that there are approximately 75 days for you and your kids to fill to the brim. At some point--most likely at around day 2--you are bound to hear "I'm bored!" If the summer doldrums have settled over your house, a few nature crafts may be just the trick to lure your kids into the backyard and away from the TV. Painted pebbles, faux fossils, and shell painting are three excellent projects that encourage your kids to explore the world around them and use a little creativity to boot.
Decorating T-shirts is another good bet. Try making a batch of nature T-shirts. Or, get out the dye and twist up some colorful tie-dyed socks.
You can also get the blood pumping with some fun outdoor games and sidewalk games. As a family, you can choose a project from our woodworking gallery and stay busy for hours.
