Pads and Paperweights
Our top ideas for Father's Day gifts that Dad will enjoy all year long
DAD'S PADS
Memo pads adorned with your child's original artwork make a noteworthy Father's Day gift. Simply have your kids decorate the top of a piece of paper and take it to a copy shop or printer to be made into notepads. Pads start at 50 cents each, depending on the paper size and your printer.
PERSONALIZED PAPERWEIGHT
Dad rocks! And this 3-D portrait proves it. Coat the top and sides of a clean flat rock with paint that matches Dad's skin tone and let it dry. Using tacky glue, add strands of yarn for hair (we cut ours into 1/2-inch pieces and attached them in clusters). Finally, paint on Dad's eyes, nose, mouth, and any other distinguishing features.
MINI TRAVEL KIT
With this clever collection in hand, Dad can always travel first class. A sturdy, expandable plastic envelope, available at office supply stores, is small enough to stash in a glove compartment and neatly holds on-the-road essentials such as gum, sticky notes, a pen, lip balm, and, of course, a family photo.

PHOTO WALLET CARD
This compact collage serves as a portable photo album and keeps Dad's favorite faces all in one neat place. Trace a credit card onto card stock and cut out the shape. Arrange a selection of trimmed photos on the card stock in a design you like, then affix them with a glue stick. Write a greeting on the back if you'd like. Next, cover the front and back of the card with Con-Tact paper or clear packing tape and trim off any excess, leaving a 1/8-inch border. You can also have the card laminated at a copy shop.
