Paper Capers

The secret to getting this trick to work is to draw two almost identical faces on separate bookmark-size strips of paper.

Lay one strip on top of the other, then draw a face 1 inch down from the top edge, pressing firmly. Lift off the top strip, then trace over the indentation to make the second drawing.

Change one detail on that second drawing; make the eye wink, for example. Then curl the top strip tightly by winding it around a pencil.

Make Winnie Wink-O's expression change by moving a pencil back and forth rapidly.
