Using a dinner plate as a guide, draw a circle on the poster board and cut it out. Cut out five more circles, each an inch or so smaller than the previous one. Make a cut from the edge into the middle of each circle and cut a hole in the center. Tuck one cut edge under the other so that the circle becomes slightly cone-shaped. Staple together the edges.
-
Cut out small triangles around the edges of the circles. Paint the outside of the toilet tissue roll green and cut it into six equal sections.
-
Turn the Styrofoam cup upside down and push the dowel into it, using a Styrofoam block in the cup to hold it secure. Start with one toilet tissue ring for the trunk, then stack the green circles on the dowel, separating each one with another ring. Put glue on the top and bottom rims of each ring to secure it.
-
Paint the base and glue a construction-paper star on the top of the tree. Use puffy paint to tip the branches, glue on paper ornaments, and if you like, twine around a store-bought gold garland.
