Rain Forest Vines
- Total Time Needed:
- Afternoon Or Evening
If the damp weather is making your house feel like a rain forest, go with the flow and "grow" these tropical vines.
- Materials
-
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Twine or yarn
- Glitter
- Markers
- Small scraps of felt
- Instructions
-
-
Cut out lots of matching pairs of construction paper leaves (a parent can cut and trace a leaf template, or kids can fold the paper sheets in half and cut out two leaf shapes at once). While you're at it, make a pile of matching pairs of paper flowers.
-
On a long table or the kitchen floor, set out all the pairs in a long line.
-
Flip over half of the flowers and leaves so that their "wrong" side is facing up, then spread glue on each one.
-
Cut a long length of twine or yarn and drape it over the middle of each glued flower or leaf.
-
Press down each matching flower or leaf on top of its glued mate (in short, you're making a yarn sandwich), until you have one long, connected line of double-sided flowers and leaves.
-
When dry, decorate the vine with glitter, markers and felt scraps, or with construction paper details such as petals and curlicue vine tendrils.
