Ask Ann: Homemade Valentine Cards
Homemade Valentine Cards
Question My eight-year-old daughter wants to make Valentines for all her friends, but we don't want to spend too much time or money. Any ideas?

Answer Ah, the joys of being popular! Nowadays, technology makes it relatively easy to mass-produce customized cards. Your daughter might, for example, design and decorate her own Valentines postcards and print them up at your local copy shop. Just divide an 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheet of paper into four postcards, have her draw, paint or collage to create four different designs, then color copy them (about $1 per copy, so each postcard runs you about 25 cents apiece) and cut them apart.

But perhaps an even more fun kind of card, from a kid's point of view, is one that features a treat, as well as a greeting. For cards that come bearing sweets and that are relatively quick to mass-produce, check out Butterfly Cards, Bee Mine Valentines, or Lollipop Mice.
