Learning Activities: Ask Ann: Math Lessons
Crafty Math Lessons
Question My son is having trouble with math. Are there any learning activities that we could try at home to help reinforce his math skills?

Answer For kids who are struggling with math at school, you might want to engage them in some hands-on math at home. Easy projects, such as puzzlers, tricks, and games, don't necessarily teach arithmetic or geometry, but they reinforce some basic skills: logic and reasoning, and estimation and analysis.

The following projects may give your kids a boost--and they'll enjoy them so much they won't even know they're doing math:
•For counting and sorting, try collecting buttons
•For basic geometry, try making a sugar cube pyramid
•For a fun with numbers game, make this math board game
