Listen to the Wall family groove through the ABC song, and the original version starts to seem positively plodding. Ever since their 10-year-old, Cooper, was a toddler, the music-loving family has inflected the classic tune with all manner of rhythms, from the hippest of hip-hop to the twangiest of country to the bluest of blues.
What inspired the zany musical stylings? "Oh, the same as every fun thing," laughs mom Ellen, FamilyFun's editorial researcher. "It started as a parent sanity saver because Cooper would ask for the song every night before bed, and we got tired of singing it the regular way!" Eventually, it was Cooper who would request a different beat each evening -- and he passed the tradition on to his younger brothers, Ryan and Bryce.
