Souped-up Saucers
- Total Time Needed:
- 1 Hour
The best thing about these UFOs: they fly amazingly well. Each of your intergalactic explorers can make his or her own custom-decorated spacecraft in a few easy steps. When the saucers are ready for liftoff, dim the lights and hold a contest to see who can throw his creation, Frisbee style, the farthest.
- Materials
-
- For each flying saucer, you'll need one 12- or 14-ounce paper bowl and 2 dinner-size paper plates (doubling the plates increases the craft's stability and helps it fly better). Look for standard-weight, slightly glossy plates and bowls.
- Scissors
- Double-sided foam tape
- Glow-in-the-dark stickers
- Colored or metallic markers
- Instructions
-
-
Create the cockpit door by making 2 straight scissor cuts in the bowl, as shown, about 2 inches apart. -
With double-sided foam tape, stick together 2 plates, one nesting inside the other, then tape the rim of the bowl to the bottom of the plates. -
Decorate the UFO with glow-in-the-dark stickers and colored or metallic markers.
