Homemade place mats preserve Valentine's greetings: Every year, we make place mats out of my sons' Valentine's Day cards. Dylan, now age nine, and Caleb, five, each arrange their cards on the sticky side of an 11- by 17-inch piece of clear Con-Tact paper, then we cover both sets with another piece of the Con-Tact paper, sticky side down. I seal the edges with a little more to keep moisture out. These place mats don't last forever, but it's really nice to enjoy the good wishes a bit longer. -- Elizabeth V. E., San Jose, California
