Towel Apron

A cute way to organize for young crafters

Nothing smothers the creative fire like having to clean a big glob of paint off your favorite shirt. This comfortable two-pocket apron--fashioned from an old hand towel that's folded and secured with a few stitches (or dabs of fabric glue)--neatly solves that problem. After your kid's inner Jackson Pollock emerges, just toss the apron in the washing machine.

 Materials
  • Terry cloth hand towel
• Needle and thread or fabric glue
• 2 yards of heavy cord or string
• 2 1-inch wooden beads

apron

DIRECTIONS

1. Lay out the towel and fold up the bottom 5 inches to form a front pocket. Sew or glue the pocket's side seams, then sew or glue a center dividing seam to create two smaller pockets.

how 2. Fold back the top two corners and sew or glue them in place, leaving a 1-inch-wide casing for the cord.

3. Starting at one side, thread the cord up through the casing and then down the other side. Tip: Attach a safety pin to the end of the cord to help work it through the casing.

4. To keep the cord ends from slipping back through the casing, thread beads onto the ends and secure with knots.
