Uncle Sam Hat
Celebrating the Fourth from FamilyFun
Top off an outfit of red, white and blue with a homemade Uncle Sam hat. To make a hat, start with a 12-by-14-inch piece of poster board. Mark each side with a dot at the halfway points of 6 and 7 inches respectively. Measure 2 1/2 inches in from each dot and mark an additional dot. Connect the outer dots with a curved line to form an oval; repeat with the inner dots. Cut away the corners of the outer oval, then cut the inner oval sides and rear, leaving the front intact. Raise the inner flap and fold it forward. Trim the top and sides of the flap to resemble the Uncle Sam hat-shape. Then, offer your child markers, glitter and star stickers to decorate the hat.
