My grandmother Nan lived in England when I was growing up, but I was always in her thoughts -- and I knew it. Every month, starting when I was a toddler, she sent me a postcard with a different wildflower on the front and, on the back, a sweet message about how much she missed me. I pasted each in a scrapbook, and I treasure them still. For young children, with their big hearts and enormous imaginations, out of sight need not mean out of mind. Staying in touch from afar can be as simple as that monthly postcard, or any of the sweet forget-me-nots we've gathered here, from Familiar Face Puppets to care packages filled with mementos.
