Funny/Scary Jack

Whether your child's going for a funny face or a scary-looking one, these Jack-o'-Lantern masks are sure to fit the bill.

Have your child choose either Scary Jack, Funny Jack, or both. Then click on the appropriate printable link(s): Scary Jack Mask or your Happy Jack Mask and bowtie. To view the .pdf file, you'll need Adobe Reader which is available for free from the Adobe site.
Paste each printout onto card stock, making sure the glue is on the back of the costume images. Have your little Jack-o'-Lantern color in the mask with an orange marker. For the funny costume, the bow tie can be colored in any way your pumpkin chooses.
A parent or other grown-up should cut out the pumpkin face. Make sure to cut out the eyes and mouth so your child can see and breathe. Using an X-acto knife (and cutting board) or hole punch will make the cutting easier.
Punch one hole on either side of the mask (in the designated area). Reinforce the holes with tape so the mask doesn't rip while your child is wearing it. Thread a length of string through each hole and secure it. Make sure the mask fits snugly but not too tightly around your child's head.
Dress your child in the corresponding clothing. If you've chosen Funny Jack, attach the bow tie to the shirt with tape or thread, or create your own unique bow tie with a scarf.
Add a cane for the funny costume, black gloves and cape for the scary one.
Put on the mask, and your little one is ready to go.

Tips:: To create a really interesting effect, print out both masks and have your child color them in; then, once they are cut out and the holes are punched and reinforced, tie the two together. That way the mask can be turned around once in a while to create a new costume.
