Hi I'm Deb Geigis Berry with Family Fun sailing on a Disney Cruise. Here at Oceanier Lab kids love making new friends and tapping into their creativity. Here's a creative idea, turn ordinary towels into a fashionable yet functional beach accessory.
To make the beach bag you'll need a hand towel, a wash cloth, thread, buttons, embroidery needles , pins, scissors, and a yard of half inch thick robe. First, fold the hand towel in half. Then, fold the wash cloth in half and center it on the hand towel like this. To create a pocket, stitch around the edges. Be sure to only stitch through the top layer of the hand towel. Sew the button onto the top of the bag. Then, extremely carefully, poke a hole through the wash cloth to create a button hole. Stitch together the sides of the bag either by hand or machine to create the handle. Carefully poke a hole through the upper corners of the bag. Then tie a knot on one end of the rope and thread the rope through the bag. To secure the handle knot the other end. We use blue and green towels but you can customize the colors to match your bathing suit.
