Ready for an irresistible twist on a crispy treat? I'm Lee Woodruff in the kitchen with Family Fun. This simple melt and mix recipe takes the classic kid favorite to a whole new level.
You'll need four cups of mini marshmallows, a half a stick of butter, 14 caramel candy squares, one teaspoon vanilla extract, one and a quarter cups semi-sweet chocolate, and six and a half cups of crisp rice cereal. Line a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with a piece of foil that extends at least two inches over each end. Grease the foil and set the pan aside. Melt the marshmallows, butter, and caramels in a large saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until smooth, approximately nine minutes. Remove from the heat and add in the vanilla extract. Now stir in the cereal and chocolate chips and mix well. Spread the mixture in a prepared pan and let cool completely for about forty five minutes. Transfer the mixture to a cutting board by lifting up the foil. Carefully peel off the foil and using a sharp knife cut the mixture into twelve large bars or twenty four smaller bars. Store these snacks in an airtight container until you are ready to serve them and they'll last for days
