Hi, I'm Lee Woodruff in the kitchen with Family Fun. They might look hot off the grill, but these mini burgers are actually clever desserts in disguise.
You'll need vanilla wafer cookies, mint patties, yellow and red frosting, green food coloring, shredded coconut, sesame seeds, warm jam, and a pastry brush. First, we'll make the lettuce by putting some shredded coconut in a zip lock bag with a few drops of green food coloring. Shake it up and set this aside for later. Now brush the top of the bun lightly with warm jam and sprinkle on a few sesame seeds; set this aside, too. Then take an upside down wafer cookie and attach it to the mint patty with a dab of frosting. Add a swirl of yellow icing to look like mustard and a dab of red icing for the ketchup. Sprinkle on the shredded coconut, it looks just like lettuce. Now you're ready for the final touches. Add a little yellow or red icing to the top bun and place it on the burger. And there you have it, a fun, inventive dessert great for a BBQ party or just a surprise for your kids.
