This colorful apron is a great hands on project for kids. I'm Lee Woodruff, and this is Lauren, at the craft table with Family Fun. All they have to do is dip their hands in paint and voila you've got a great gift item with their own signature on it.
You'll need a solid colored apron, fabric paints, fabric pens, and paper plates. Cover a work area with newspaper or craft paper and a lay the apron right side up. Now, pour paints onto paper plates. Have kids press their hands in the paint and move them around until the palms are covered, then place their hand prints on the apron. To avoid splatter marks on the apron, be sure to press down firmly and lift your hand up slowly. Continue until the apron is covered with prints. Write each child's name with a fabric pen under his or her hand print. Let dry for at least one day before wearing. Got a handle on it? Now try dish towels, pot holders, t-shirts and more.
