Hi, I'm Lee Woodruff at the craft table with Family Fun. These lava lights make for some funky decor, but they also make a cool science project.

You'll need glass jars, water, food coloring, vegetable oil, and some kosher salt. First, fill a jar with water. Then, add food coloring until you have just the right color. Next, add a third of a cup of vegetable oil and wait until the layers settle. To start the lava flowing add salt then watch carefully. The oil and salt form granules and sink to the bottom., but when the salt dissolves, the oil floats back up. Very cool! For more lava eruptions just add more salt. Create one, two, or a dozen.
