For your Fourth of July celebration why not whip up a treat to have your guests seeing stars. I'm Lee Woodruff in the kitchen with Family Fun. These colorful cookies are a snap to make.
You'll need sugar cookie dough from your favorite recipe red and blue food coloring and star shaped cookie cutters at least two different sizes. Divide the cookie dough into thirds knead the red coloring into one third until it is evenly distributed. Do the same with the blue coloring, leave the last third of the dough blank to make your white stars. Now roll out each color. Cut stars from the dough with the largest cutter then place them on the cookie sheet. Cut stars from the centers of the cookies with the smaller cutter swap the small cut out stars and press them into the cut out centers of larger stars of different colors you want a contrast effect. Use a third, smaller star cutter to cut out the middles again so that you have one layer of each color. Bake the cookies according to rest the instructions just pop them in the oven and these cookies will be a star at any gathering.
