Hi, I'm Lee Woodruff, and I'm Tiara, and we're at the craft table with Family Fun. Have we got a hands on party activity for you. Try our thumbprint garden T-shirts, aspiring artists will love them.
Here's what you'll need, T-shirts, cardboard that fits snugly inside the tees, wax paper, fabric paints, some paper plates, and a green fabric marker. First, prepare each T-shirt by slipping the cardboard in waxed paper inside the shirt so it fits snugly, like this. The wax paper should be on top to keep the shirt from sticking to the cardboard. Start by dipping a finger into the paint and pressing it on to the shirt to make the flower's center. To create the petals, choose another paint color and use your thumb to make prints around the flower's center. Now you don't need a green thumb to make this tee, but beware you may come away with a pink or a yellow one. To complete the flowers, draw stems and leaves with a fabric marker. Be sure to check the directions on your fabric paint for washing instructions. At the party, the girls can decorate their own tees, or even better, each girl can put her signature flower on every t-shirt and sign her name underneath. This way everyone gets a shirt with beautiful blossoms made by each one of her friends. We give these personalized T-shirts a big two thumbs up.
